Taillights different brightness WTF?

I am driving home tonight and a buddy of mine calls me who saw me and told me that my taillights were different brightness. On the brakes he said they are fine. My taillights are tinted but I checked them for consistency when I did them. What could be causing this? And how can I fix it?

the only way i can see that would fix it is to strip off the tint and re do them consistently. did you use VHT Nightshades?

What I mean is that I am pretty sure that it is not the tiny causing to problem. When I tinted them, I made sure when I was done that they were equal and the light shined through equally from both lights. It is in fact VHT Niteshades

ok, i used the nightshades as well, and when i did them the first time, they looked perfect. the brakes and running lights looked good until it got dark outside and then you could see a huge difference. so i stripped it off with acetone and re did them, constantly hooking them back up to make sure they were perfect and they were. i have a 2010 with the LED lights though, so if you dont have LED's one of your bulbs might be burning out .
here is a pic of mine......
