LED dome light problem...

Howdy guys (and gals)... So I bought one of those LED dome light thingys. Got it all installed and it works well, but it only works when the truck is on, or if one of my map lights is on.

If I just open up my door it will be very dimly lit and flashing rapidly. But when I turn the truck on or one of my map lights on, it will power up fully.

It seems like a power problem...but kinda doesn't make sense cuz it uses less power than the normal bulb... Any ideas on what it might be?

 

Welcome to LED domes in a 1st Gen we all have this problem there is a cheap way to fix it I just haven't done it yet.all you have to do is wire another bulb inline with the dome and just paint the uew bulb black or wrap it in shrink tube.

 

really?...i wonder if there is an easier way to do that...do you know why it doesn't pull enough power? Could probably fix it with a small resistor or capacitor.

 

from the sounds of this a resistor hooked in would work just as well.
