EDIT.. finished.. write up and pics on page 3.

    Hey guys,

I bought some eBay halo projectors, knowing they weren't going to be the best. I have some 35w HIDs to go with them. I'm looking to retrofit some HID projectors in to the eBay housing. That way I can have the look I like and performance of a quality projector. My question is, what do I need to make it work. projectors obviously, but which ones, and will i need new HIDs as well? Like bulb type or anything. I guess I just need to find out what hid projector is close enough to the eBay ones. Then can I just plug in my HIDs (if the bulb type is the same) or do I need specific bulbs to match the new hid projector? Theres just so many projectors and websites, I'm a little overwhelmed. Thanks guys. Help me out.

Edit: I think I figured some of it out. Get the tsx (s2k-r) hid projectors with the morimoto d2s 35w bulbs. That's all I should need. Atleast in my head I think so. This is all from the retrofit source BTW.

2nd edit: researched more.. the morimoto mini 4.0 projector with the H1 bulbs and ballast adapter is exactly what I need. It's about 160 all together from the retrofit source.

Not yet. I do have all the info needed tho. Emailed back and forth with TRS, and know what I need and that the new projectors will be a direct replacement. I have just had some other priorities come up, but it will be done. I'll do a write up when I do the swap. Hopefully soon.

so your going to do a quad set up in those ebay housings?

if you did this with the H1's you would have a freaking nice ass set of lights!

is this your first time doing a retrofit though?to align a quad and get things perfect is kind of tricky i have seen it done but have not personally done one myself.

i'm thinking of doing the fogs that are in my arb with projectors so i too can run a quad set up and i'm concerned about the alignment myself. when you have all four running from what i have seen its just a little tricky for you it may be easy enough because yours are all in the same housing but, for me this is going to be more of a challenge.

just something to think about if thats the route you want to go. research this out good bud lol i have heard of only a few guys who have done this with the ebay projector lights.

subscribed, keep us updated. i also just installed a set of gen 3 halo projectors. i took the H1 bulbs out and installed some H1 HID replacements at 4300k
i knew the beam pattern would suck and it does. i would really really like to see some details and pictures of your progress on this.
keep us updated as i may be doing the exact same thing soon.

Im actually just going to replace the stock ebay projectors with some Morimoto Mini's. Then run Bi-Xenons in them. Im either going to just not use the high beams, or I can have two sets of high beams. I'm switching basicaly for the better light output and cutoff. It should work great. Just finding the time and extra cash to do it right now Is the difficult part. Ill keep everyone posted for sure.

Ok, so after going back and forth with what mod or new goodies I wanted to get myself.. I've decided to go with my lighting. I emailed Matt again at TRS and also found a group buy through them.. so Its perfect. ill be getting the stage III morimoto kit with ballasts, new projectors, wiring harness, H1 4.3k bulbs and also some h10 4.3k bulbs for the fogs. I'm just waiting for a response for what mounting plate I need to use.. its a little confusing since I'm replacing non stock hardware.. so I need to know if I should get H4 plates (stock) or H7 (the ebay projectors) regardless... I'll have these things ordered no later than tomorrow and as soon as they get here, ill do a write up with pics and hopefully it all works out ok. I'm definitely not looking forward to baking and cracking open the headlights AGAIN.. :/ oh well, as long as I get a good seal again.. Im ok. I'll keep ya'll posted.

If you're replacing projectors into those housings, you won't actually use either adapter plate, but you'll need to fabricate some brackets to hold the MH1 instead that will bolt up where the lens retainer meets the bowl. Just two small pieces of flat stock trimmed to fit with holes drilled for bolting up. The H1s all include H4 and H7 adapter plates regardless.

Ahhh.. I'm gonna go ahead and say your from the retrofit source. Lol. Thanks for the Info. I was hoping It would be close to a direct replacement. I guess that's not too bad of a project though.

I know R4 hit the 25 so it will go on probably until the end of this week. Beyond that, I can't say for sure honestly.

Best of both worlds. ill take pics and make a write up and post It In this thread as well as my build.
