Question on 100W Hid lights and what headlights for 96

Hi I was wanting to get 4 100w HID lights on the front of my truck and I was wondering who sells a good 100w 6000k kit that will fit in some 6" kc daylighters? I don't want junk, but I don't want to pay a ton either. Something good quality for a fair price. I pm'd blackhawk88 a week ago, but haven't gotten a response. I saw him selling good HID kits on here over the summer.

Also what is the difference in getting the 100w or the 130w 6" black kc daylighters? Just the bulb, or wiring too? Would the 100w daylighters be fine for the 100w HID kit?

Last question... I'm looking for a good pair of headlights for my 96 tacoma. It has the stock ones in there, but I want something brighter with replaceable bulbs. I think I just want Halogen bulbs in the headlights for now, but may go to HID later. What's a good pair and what do I order? I heard something about the hellas being a good one to get?

Thanks alot.

You do realize that 35 watt HIDs are as bright as 150 watts halogen? They are very bright at that power (with 4300K to 5000K color bulbs). Upgrade to 55 watt HIDs and it is extremely bright... but don't go higher than 6000K at the higher wattage.

blackhawk88 was selling for Cody (GG Lighting)... where I got my Hellas converted to HID... and if you missed all the drama, then you need to go back in this forum and do some reading. He wasn't selling 'good' HID kits... they may work okay, but they are all Chinese stuff and many of us got bad ballasts, bad or wrong color bulbs, and Cody just went off line for a month not returning calls or honoring warranties on the defective parts... His partner Chris came to the rescue and did a great job covering for Cody's fail.

I don't believe you need to be higher than 55 watts for ultimate HID brightness in a conversion... KC has a factory 75 watt HID for off road racing. I have not seen any higher wattage HID until the posts here on TW.

100w HIDs will not work, several companies have tried them and the bulbs burn out.

go davids route and get some 35w or 55w, you will be happy with either

Thank you for sharing that with me. Yes I realize how bright the 35w hid`s are. I`ve had multiple sets. I`ve always wanted it brighter though. I guess 100w is probably way excessive, but is 75w still a bad idea? Do they burn out quite a bit? Maybe I should just go with your advide and go with some 55w bulbs and call it good. I just hate regretting not getting the next step up sometimes. But maybe this time I would regret getting the next step up if they burn out alot.

So where would I get a decent 55w 6000k kit? I may be happier with a 5000k though because it`s brighter. I just like the little bit of blue tint personally, but not too blue.

Thanks a bunch.

Thanks and that's a great buy, but i've had a pair of the 7in kragens. I didn't like the beam pattern. Maybe that's why they didn't seem as bright as I like? I want the long range beams. Not trying to be picky, just tired of not being happy.

If you saw my set up, I have two Kragens (driving beam) and two Hellas (pencil beam)... so I get the area infront illuminated for normal driving plus I get the distance to see way down the road. The only thing more I would want/ need were two fog beams (wide angle) for cornering. Now, I do have the Tacoma fogs, but they are weak with only 35 watt halogen bulbs... I see an HID conversion for them some day!
