HID ballast/bulb question

I'm interested in installing a set of HIDs for the main headlamps as well as the fog lights. I still have a set of Xenondepot boxed Phillips rebased H1 bulbs and ballasts from my old whip. The set is 8 years old but still was working without any problems. Am I able to just buy a pair of xenon bulbs from slimcubby and reuse my ballasts (with understanding I might need to modify/fabricate the connectors a bit)?

The replacement xenondepot/kbcarstuff bulbs are $85 each, and it doesn't make sense to go with that brand since aftermarket HID is much more competitive and price-friendly now than it was back then.

Are we able to install 55W systems to this vehicle? I was just going to go conservative and go with 35W to avoid melting issues.

 

The 55w create less heat the a 75 watt halogen, I am not worried about them melting the lenses
