I never said it wouldn't work. I am saying that it is a bad idea to run Xentec HIDs in stock housings. You will blind oncoming traffic and you will blind people you are driving behind. If you like being a jerk then go right ahead.

when i say hers work fine though i mean she doesnt blind oncoming traffic or the people in front of her.

I still stick with what I said, you can't cut corners with HIDs. You need proper projectors to use them effectively. Also avoid brands that are commonly found on eBay and do some proper research on them.

ALL plug and play HID systems installed in stock housings blind oncoming traffic... or blind drivers in front through their mirrors.
I've owned them, and I've been in front of enough of them to know.

I see this constantly on my traffic cameras. I've tried to get some comparative screenshots, but the images with illegal HID are so oversaturated that the cameras bias down and the screenshots don't look that much different.... but when I'm watching live or recorded video... from a camera that is mounted at 50 feet (that's about 45 feet higher than a rear view mirror) it is obvious which cars are running halogen and projectors and which cars are running P&P HID.

I understand what you guys are saying and its not that im not taking it into consideration, but i have been infront of her truck at night time many times and have passed her going the opposite direction many times. Dont get me wrong her lights are bright, but they don't blind people.

More people need to reference this before buying lights . . . Several times I've been the "downer" letting them know their 10,000k pnp (behind their tinted headlights and seen by them through a tinted windshield) are just plain stupid. I do not understand sacrificing the safety of others and risking a large fine on top of possibly harming someone just do look derptastic.

I agree but I also have to say I understand wanting the look as well.

When I was researching HID's for my MR2 I wanted the blue look as well, and really considered doing what most people do. A friend with his eclipse had blue lights and I did feel they looked nice.

Also seeing the prism effect some high end BMW, Mercedes (now other cars too) produce is also very nice.

The difference is, at least for me, is I started reading up on 'good' kits and this is when I stumbled upon many of the links I posted originally. I took them to heart, even more so when I started selling conversion kits for MR2's (converts from the old square beam headlights to smaller round ones, nothing to do with HID directly) and was bombarded with "I want HIDs YO!, whats good?" I refused to sell HID PnP's with the H9 lights, even though I could have made money on them.

Much later after I spent $2500 on the lighting system in my MR2 did I run into my friend with the eclipse. Even though he is running higher wattage ballasts in his car, my car with the ~4700-5000k lights out shine his like night and day with much less bleed.

His APPEARED brighter when you look at them, but the difference could be seen in reflective things, like a license plate. Mine seemed brighter at a distance and far less glare, his did not; and yes his lights were adjusted properly.

I hear you completely, man. I get when people want a look as well. I just don't like when thy don't at least draw a personal line, not my line, but their own, between looks and function/safety. When people just throw wits to the wind and say screw everyone, man. I'm goona get 20% tint on my windshield so I can't see anything, black out all my exterior lighting so no one can see me, and then put the cheapest, crap light kit I can find in real quick because F doing it right. Haha

I may not agree with everyone's personal balance between looks and function, but I respect a man who at least tries to be rational and responsible. And care about others instead of being a selfish prick.

so i installed my retrofit today, mini H1, everything was good and working, i was adjusting the driver side housing and when pushing the wires out of the way both lights cut off and now will not turn on. I checked all grounds and connections, everything is fine, could a super light bump to 1 ballast with the ratchet cause the whole system to stop working? could simply pushing some wires out of the way cause both bulbs to burn out? i ran out of daylight so i have to attack this in the morning but i was hoping someone could help me get a head start at what i should be looking at tomorrow. thanks.

Check fuses.
Both the fuse on the harness AND the two (four?) Toyota fuses. You have separate fuses for right and left, and I think the high beams are on their own fuses but I'm not sure.

I have a question for anyone to answer. I bought my truck with HID's already installed. It has an inline fuse to it with a 20A fuse from the battery to the rest of the HID components. So my question is do i have the right fuse in it? the link below are the HID's installed in it.

I'm not sure if someone already stated this, but in many places now a "plug and play" system(HID lights in nonHID housing) is illegal and cops happily write tickets for it. Your best route is to install projectors with your HIDs. You'll also get much better use out of your HIDs than just putting them in the old housing.

This has been brought up several times but people still don't seem to understand how bad it is to run HIDS in stock housings.

Here is a pic from a drive home the other day showing how bad the scattered light is from another driver.

I hear you. CHP has been clamping down lately. I haven't seen yellow headlights in a couple of years now, and I'm seeing fewer and fewer of the darker purple lights.

And yes... there's a silver DC Taco that always seems to get behind me on my way to work, and the idiot has HIDs in his stock housings AND his fogs.
I see him coming up, I move over, slow down, and tuck in behind him.
It seriously gives me a headache to be in front of him.
