    Hey guys,

I've been a lurker on here for sometime now. Lots of good information here.

I just read this thread which details the steps to installing projectors: My question is, which aftermarket headlight is a good choice for retrofitting? The person who posted that thread states that you want to stay away from the lights with a grey plastic back to them and look for the ones with a silver back. In the picture it appears the headlight he's using has a metal back to it. I have been unable to find anything like that on e-bay, etc.

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy a set of these lights to be retrofitted or maybe just a brand to try and find?

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it!
    Matt

I currently have these on my truck:

Would anyone see a problem with using them to retrofit considering that thread I linked to above states to stay away from the lights with grey plastic backings because they are extremely difficult to take apart and will most likely be damaged in the process.

Just trying to get an opinion from someone who has retrofitted aftermarket headlights.

    Thanks again,
    Matt

these 1st gen lights are very similar to the ford f150 that i worked on... only problem you may come across is the sealant.... It might be a permanent type seal... whereas our 2nd gen all use some sort of sticky butyl.

I am looking for a set of "silver" headlights for my 2004 PreRunner as well, thanks to that thread. While I have been unable to find confirmed silvers for sale via Amazon or the like, I have found several on eBay that show silver backs in pictures. Look for the ones in the $100 shipped range. I assume those are the ones, but I don't have 100% confirmation yet.

Well I decided to go with my existing VAIP Vision head lights. I am having someone put projectors in them and he said he didn't run into any issues. Can't wait to get them on the truck!

Thanks guys. I'll snap some pictures for sure when we get them installed this weekend. Only one more week of blinding everyone on the road. Can't wait to drive by someone at night without getting flashed! Wish I would have done some more research when I initially installed these HID's.
