Hooking up New lights.

So I've got a set of lights behind my grill. I don't know what they are or if they even work. They have all the wires, but they aren't mounted correctly. the PO had them mounted to the radiatior mount some how. My question is, how could I go about making sure they work? If they don't, I'll go ahead and buy some lights later. Could i just hook them up to the battery?

 

Follow the wires. No switch anywhere? Pics?

 

You could hook them directly to the battery, but just for safety's sake I'd put an inline fuse in. If something shorts (easier for a temporary circuit), it'll save yer bacon.

 

x2. I have touched wires directly to the battery before just to make sure they work though. Not really the best way to go about doing things because if there is a short, you could do some damage to your battery (or yourself). Best/safest way would be to make sure you have continuity from the positive to the negative across the light itself.

Is it wired in at all? Maybe trace the wires and see if they're set up to plug into a switch somewhere? If you want lights up there eventually anyways, check the wires, make sure everything is connected properly (in-line fuse, relay, etc) run them to a switch and flick them on.
