I want to replace my reverse bulbs with some brighter ones. What's the brightest bulbs that are best for the reverse lights?

I've been looking into the Silverstars and the PIAA Exptreme White series. Anyone know which is brighter?

Just do a hid conversion if u want bright..just don't leave em on to long cuz it'll melt the plastic..I had em on a 00 mustang and looked like it was facing forward as bright as they were...right now I got 800 lumen leds on my Tacoma not too bright but look nice..I'll post pics when i'm near my truck cuz i'm at work.

    HID replacements for 1156?

Do you know what HID is? It's not just a blue halogen sold on eBay and listed as "HID"
There is a foglight lamp conversion for the 2nd Gen, but for 1st Gen (1156) Pep Boys sells Halogen replacements.
And ya... they'll melt the lens if left on too long.

Yup put 6000k hid small bulb in the reverse...actual high intensity discharge kit with slim ballasts.. Used only to back up and that's it not to show off or it gets to hot..itsnot hard to convert not a plug n play tho..

I wasn't aware of any "small" HID bulbs, I thought they (bulbs) were pretty much the same size with different bases. Also, does a Gen1 Taco use 1156 bulbs, a Gen2 doesn't.

Original 1st Gen takes the 1156. They went to the 921 for the 2001 facelift and continued using it on the 2nd Gen.

He did it on his 2000 Mustang. Might be more room for the burner.
    The Taco is pretty tight.

Nope, don't want to do an HID conversion. First, I don't want to have to wait for them to startup. Second, too much money and work for backips Might as well put a aux backup kit on, which I am thinking about doing

The $25 type has chips on the side... should throw enough into the reflector bowl to work pretty well.

The cheaper one is going to be more like a spot beam from a CREE flashlight.

This one doesn't do the trick?

That's four 1.5w on the sides plus the 5w in the center.

No, not as good as the single 9w, but seems it would be an improvement over stock.

Distance is kinda pointless when your backing up, not going fast enough.
Need more flood especially in a busy parking lot. Maybe i'll just stick to aux backup lights.
