Took a few days, but I completed my retro. Took them to the park, to get a baseline adjustment, and discovered I don't have highs. I purchased the FX-R Stage 3 kit from TRS, and everything works, except highs. When I turn on the highs, the bulb goes out. Is this a wiring issue with the adapter plug for signal from the original wiring, or is it the projector plug that you assemble yourself, or something else? Anyone with some insight would be great. I'll try to find my DMM for testing voltage, but if there's something else to look at, I'm all ears.

Did you buy the H4/9003 relay harness?
You need that for it to work properly.

Relay harness? All I got was the wiring for the ballasts, which has battery and ground connections, and a little box, copper in color, that connects to a plug on the harness. There is one connector, that connects to the original wiring to get signal. I assumed that the relay was the little box, that is by the battery connection. Maybe I have it wired backwards, I'll give that box a once over.

It was on the pull-down menu when you placed the order.
If you did not select the H4/9003 relay harness, you did not order the right part.

Go back to your emails or the packing slip and check to verify what you ordered.

H4/9003 Relay harness. I assume that's the right part. That's what it says on my packing slip.

    That's the right part.

Either something isn't wired right or one of the relays is bad.

wait i have your answer, i had the same problem with mine when i installed them. The guide on TRS is wrong, there are some connectors that you have to switch where they go. Let me go thru my pm's. I believe i messaged ant about this awhile ago.

Don't worry, I've got it. The highbeam + and - posts need to be switched in the wiring harness that comes with the kit. I figured it out when I pulled the fuses for the headlights, and the highbeam was blown in the truck. So I unplugged everything, swapped in a new fuse, and tested with the meter. 12V, so good to go. Plugged the adapter back in, and popped the fuse again. Through reading the meter, I discovered the + and - on the adapter harness are reversed. New fuse, switch the + and -, and I now have highs. Thanks all.

Yea that was a big thing, they were just blowing fuses on everybody. Congratulations on your new headlights. Now go properly aim them if you havent done so yet

I've got them roughly aimed. It's hard during the day. When it gets a little darker tonight, I'll head back to the community center and aim them against the wall. So stoked, can't wait to see tonight.

    Your order looks correct Red.
I shot a PM to "AndrewTRS" referencing this thread and asking if this is still an issue on current production.

Odd that this is the first that some of us have heard of it, given that we just wrapped up the 9th TRS group buy!

Looks pretty much like my order. You have the harness alright. One issue I had, was the highbeam connector was wired wrong. When looking at the harness with the pins on the left, top and right, you need to switch the left and top ones on the harness supplied with the HID kit. This will swap the highbeam polarity, and you'll be ready to rock.

25 pages of questions on how to aim headlights?

    It ain't rocket science guys....

Park the car 25ft away from a wall on a level surface.
Measure from the ground to the center of the projector.
Run a piece of masking tape across the wall 2.1" below that height.

Put a vertical piece of tape directly in front of each projector.

Cover the right headlight and turn them on.
Adjust vertically so the low/left end of the beam is at the edge of the tape.
Adjust horizontally so the beginning of the kickup is at the edge of the vertical tape.
Cover the left headlight and do the same with the right headlight.

When done, you should have a single, well defined horizontal line to the left kickup, and a single, well defined horizontal line from the top of the right kickup on out to the right.

Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes unless your housings are frakked or you messed up the retrofit.

Also keep in mind that the H1 and DS2 projectors have a little bit of rotational slop. After installing them, but before re-sealing the housings, you need to confirm that they are producing a level beam.

The "right" way is to temporarily reinstall the unsealed housings, park the truck on level ground, light 'em up, and confirm that they are level.
The quick and dirty way is to look through the projector lens and confirm that the mask is level with the bottom of the turn signal lens.
