just installed LED's on the map lights. works great. comes on when unlocking via key fob, and turns off when turning the key to ACC. but one issue that I found was when it faded to off, there was a slight hint that the LED's are still being powered(hopefully that makes sense). here's a pic, you can see slightly even though it's pretty dim. what do you guys think is wrong?

Possibly because they require so little current to turn on, they may not be fully shutting off the SCR in the control module.

Check them with the key off, lights off, door closed... just like you leave the truck at night... and see if they're still on.

i have a first gen, so YMMV, but i had to solder resistors to my LEDs to make them work without the key. Used a 100 ohm 1/2 watt for each LED and it worked perfectly. again, this was for my first gen, but it could be worth looking into...

"SCR", I'm lost on that one haha

yes that too. they are on even though the truck is off. the only way to keep them off is when I move the switch on the dome to off. it kind of sucks that I can't leave the switch to door. know what I mean

I haven't thought about that one. I thought all LED's are plug and play

i guess the lower current draw freaks out the ecu or whatever supplies the power and it doesn't pull enough current to light up completely. it's the same idea with people getting "hyper-flash" with LED turn signals -- wire in a resistor inline to bring the resistance back to normal filament bulb and it behaves.

I'm sorry man, but I'm kinda of lost now haha. sorry I'm not much of a electrician buff. I'm just trying to find out why the LED's are still drawing power even though their not on. sorry again if I'm not getting what you guys are trying to explain.

it's all good bro. I'm still trying to figure it out myself but no luck. I bought the LED's locally, so I'm not really sure if quality gets to do anything with it drawing power.
