I think they sell the lights just like that on ebay. Different colors. Just search for halos.

As far as a diy setup, I haven't seen any info, but you could add an LED strip while doing a retrofit or something.

Theres got to be something. I would think it would be pretty easy to just add an LED strip while everything is apart. I don't know much about retrofitting to be honest.

i feel like it may be so simple as adding in an LED into the reflector housing, much like you would do to install strobe heads

That's for the front? It's not legal to run red lights on the front of your vehicle.

    Negative.

Solid or flashing red visible from the front quadrant of the vehicle is illegal per Federal law when the vehicle is on a roadway or publicly-traveled motorway.

There are no exceptions for "being in park". Private property would be fine, but the legal definition of "private property" is constantly being narrowed and has pretty much been whittled down so that parking lots are no longer considered "private property" for most motor vehicle regulations.

Don't just shoot me down. I used to have red halos in my chrysler. I asked my cousin whos a cop and he showed me the code where I live. I also was at a gas station with my red halos strobing when a cop showed up and said good thing your cars parked. Do maybe in your area there's no exceptions. But mine there is.

Not every cop is going to be a dick about it, but that doesn't change the law, and it is a federal law, applies in all 50 states.

Forward facing red is for emergency vehicles only. Blue is for cops only.
Some states have regs that allow for green for some volunteer services.

OP is in California, and whether he's parked or not, if a cop sees a solid or flashing red, he's going to get a ticket, and depending on if he or the cop fail the attitude test, the truck might get impounded and he could be charged with impersonation.

I'm doing white halls. Might makes the projectors black or white. If I do make them red I'd only use them on private property

FMVSS 108 is the Federal specification for vehicle lighting.

Technically, legal while on private property (parked in a gas station), but like I said... the courts have been overstepping property boundaries in what they are making convictions on and considering something that does not have "controlled access" to be "public place" and using the "public place" definition to overstep and issue convictions when the law says "private property"

This kind of shit happens all the time in Commiefornia.
