hi, im a firefighter and i am wandering what would be the easiest way to mount a switch, something that looks stock in my tacoma. I will be running led interior lightbar as well as gen 3 led's all over the truck. any ideas on an easy wiring solution, in my '04 i had a switchbox but there is no room in the '13. thanks!

Here's where I installed some switches. Pretty straight forward, take off gear shift cover, measure where you want the switch housing (take note of what's underneath before actually cutting!), install and wire up. I bought the housing and switches from otrattw.com. I think it looks great, and I've already gotten several compliments stating how it looks stock.

Large...that does look slick, but why not use the "un-used" slots that are already on the dash? Ease of access?...just curious.

Did you do the same? I got the inspiration from a couple Super White Taco's that did this...just can't remember where all I've seen it!

Good point. Because I have the OR package, I forget that other models have some blanks just to the left of the steering wheel. If available, those are really easy to get to, and several people have created threads showing what switches they use. If more switch locations are necessary, then the center console is really easy to get to as well (pictured)

That does look awesome. Nice work.
This might have to be my next mod.
Did you buy this as a kit?

somewhat of a put-it-together yourself kit... as I stated, I bought the stuff from www.otrattw.com
Under "Switch Accessories" on the left you'll find the 3-switch housing, 8-terminal connectors, and packard terminals to use with the connectors.
Then I found the switches I liked under "Contura V Laser Etched Switches". Easy to install it all, the hardest/most tedious part was crimping all the terminals to my wires (5 terminals per switch)

Just to be different I guess.

But to answer the OP, it's pretty straight forward. You could use a relay if you want but I am assuming sometimes you will want to run the lights while the truck is off. So I would run a hot from a home made fuse panel or run a fused hot from the battery to the switch. Off the switch, hit the accessories.
