Regarding bold: So fucking true. They try to use .25 lux as the distance of usable light. Absolutely not an accurate gauge.

1 lux is one lumen per square meter... Basically enough to light up an area the size of a news paper, to where you would be able to read it while holding it in your hands.

1/4 of that is barely visible up close, let alone at the distances they claim.

So if I'd like to add additional light to the area in front of the truck while using my high beams (not going further then my high beams or as strong) would the LED bar be good for that?

LED bars are perfect for illumination a large and wide area, with far less current draw. Don't take all the previously mentioned stuff about distance to mean that LED's can't throw. They can certainly have distance, and illuminate a large area, they just can't compare to HID's and high quality halogens for distance illumination.

LED's are very good for adding light in front of, and to the side of you. There are some good HID and Halogen flood lights too, but as Devl posted, having a combination of LED's and HID's will give you the best combination of distance and area illumination.

    This is blackdawg's truck:

This is pretty much a perfect example of a combination of Hella HID conversions, Lightforce 240's (not sure if HID or Halogen), and a bunch of blitzpro LED bars, 21" and 6" on the sides. You can see how the LED's light up a lot around the area of the truck, and the non-led lights have more of a distance throw.

I did not import anything yet.

I have only heard good things about Aurora though, as in their turn around time is about 3 weeks from order placement to delivery. You have to email them directly to order them. Rigid has pretty much threatened to sue any vendor who tried to retail sell them for a profit. However, I have been told that the new Aurora lights no longer infringe on Rigid Patents, so more US vendors may be importing them soon. I haven't heard of anyone who imported them for personal use having any issues.

Light forces are halogen just to clarify. I like how they come on instantly for driving lights.

But I couldn't agree more. I will never run an LED bar as a man front light. Not yet anyways. They simply just can not compete in terms of distance....yet. I believe they will..just not for a few years. And even then it'll take another 10 years for the cost to be worth it.

My Hellas cost me 100-130 bucks...and will kick the crap outa most led bars costing 600-1200 bucks.

That's just a stupid price difference.

In terms if height..I got lots of that too

    A few bolts are different.
This SR 20 smokes the PIAA 520 SMR's I had. In every way. Everyone has a different need for lighting, but, for me, I only used the PIAA's with my high beams. Meaning no other cars were around. Same goes for this light bar. I have great eye sight and still I can not see as far as this bar projects. Plus, the light it does project, in the natural distance of a persons sight capabilities is incredible. I'm throwing my 2 cents in here because, I believe, it comes to a point when distance doesn't matter. How far can you really see?

If RI is seeing Aurora as threatening, I'll take a cheaper Aurora. They have to be doing something right for RI to want to sue.

He was clarifying my post, saying his LF's were halogens. In my post I said I wasn't sure if his were halogen or HID.

    Yes haha mine are halogen.

I like em like that as HIDs take about 5-20 seconds to warm up to full output. These just pop on and are on.

But the lf240 HIDs are epic bright.

The brightest hids I've seen are the big TJM ones. Similar 240s. I looked on their general direction and I saw spots for half an hour.
