    Fog lights and driving lights are two different animals.
    Fogs are usually mounted low, and aimed close with a wide beam. Driving lights are mounted higher with a narrow beam.

    This article has more info.
    What is the Difference Between Fog Lights and Driving Lights?

    So, you can call them "Nancy" if you like - but it won't change what they are, which is a low power, wide focus lights meant to be used at low speeds, with fog, snow or rain. Why low speeds? Because they only shine out about 30 feet or so in front of your vehicle, which means that at higher speeds, they won't light up anything that you can see and react to quickly enough to do something about it.

    They're usually on. I usually take them off when in city limits and not necessary. Any country driving whatsoever they stay on and damn the aim.

    I really should get them aimed right! I see drivers in lower vehicles shield their side mirrors.

    Are they HID?

    I LOVE having HID fogs! Actually, I love having HID all the way around. Couple that with the fog-on-anytime mod and I can light up the world with my hi-beams and fogs. On the darkest and rainiest nights, I can see just fine.

    I usually leave my fogs off because I have daytime running lights. If I didn't, I would leave them on all the time. But with the HID's, I limit how much day-time my HID's get because I don't want to wear anything out. They weren't cheap!

    I'm glad you keep posting these facts but you can't change stupid.
    There is a big group of drivers that run their fogs for the "look at me!" factor.
    Never mind how stupid they look to people who know better.
    I'm glad law enforcement is getting more agressive with these D-nozzles.

    I bet they are aimed so they don't shine in peoples eyes!! :D I am in the same boat but will be getting some Yellow HID's.

    I think that this will cover almost everyone {Begin :rant:}

    If you are the type of person that needs there foglights to be on:
    1. To be seen by other people cuz you are scared your headlights aren't bright enough,
    2. To be seen by other people because you think you aren't cool enough without them,
    3. To be seen by other people because they have poor vision,
    4. Because you have poor vision,
    5. Because you like the look,
    6. Because you think you need them to look cool,
    7. Because you need the extra light,
    8. Because you don't give a damn about other drivers,
    9. Because the weather and/or road conditions actually warrant them being on,
    10. Because you don't think you fit into one of these categories :lalala:
    Do us all a favor and:
    1. Know the differences between fog lights, driving lights, and off road/long range lights.
    2. Aim them correctly
    3. Use correct lights (tsk, tsk, retrofitting reflectors)
    4. Treat other drivers with respect

    {End :rant:}

    After reading 4 pages into this post it has pissed me off. Wether my fog lights are on or not i get flashed every 5 minutes cause they think my high beams are on. I also get the ass holes that dont want to find out if they are wrong and flash me 5 seconds before they pass me so i cant get them back. Your fog lights have nothing to do with blinding people if you dont notice when you turn them on it lights up the sides they dont go up any higher. If your gonna be a douche and flash me for having my low beams on you deserve to be blinded. The way tacomas sit stock hieght no matter what will blind people so shut up and move on with your life while ill keep driving with my fogs on. :)

    My lows don't blind people and I can see really well. When was the last time you aimed them or had them aimed?

    People bitch wether i have them on or off thats why i leave them on cause no matter what people complain. I have learned to drive with my hand on the light control so when they act like a douche I can get em back quick. One of these days im gonna smack someone for doing it.

    I turn mine on for rain and fog. But it's always rainy and foggy here, so I just said, "ON."
