Electrical Newb, Need Help, Used Search

Hey guys,
First off, I used the search function, however, I have some questions regarding the lighting/electrical aspect of replacing lights. I am a newb to the world of automotive electricity, so please bear with me! My license plate light went out on my 2010 Tacoma, and I was thinking to replace with an LED or something similar. I would assume that the bulb size (being 168) would draw the same amount of energy regardless of the type of bulb I use? Would I begin having issues if I switched all lights in my truck to Halogen/LED/Something more bright? I would assume the altenator would be able to keep up with anything that was of the same bulb size? I have a 2010 TRD Off Road w/ Tow Package (it has the upgraded altenator). My reason for concern is because I tow a 19 foot RV with my truck, and I know the truck not only has to illuminate all the lights on the RV, but also charge the on-board batteries and operate the brake controller. you can do it to all ur lights to be LEDs they use less voltage or amps, nothing will happen to your truck!!
