Yes, they need to go into the oven to allow you to split the housings (he said "bake" and he didn't mean sparking one up).

It's really not that big of a deal.

The big deal is making sure the paint is fully cured before reassembling the housings or the lenses can haze over from the inside.

Paint, allow to dry, then bake just the painted parts. After cooling, then apply the adhesive, bake to soften, and reassemble.

It can be done in a day.... I took my time and worked on a new set of housings since I live in a condo and can't have the truck in pieces in the lot.

I have a set of OEM stock lights that are already taken apart if any of you are afraid to bake.

No question. Retrofit is the way to go.

Morimoto D2S. Affordable and easy to install.

spyder/ebay halo projector lights are WORSE output than stock, and when combined with HIDs, they have a terrible pattern still.

Id suggest a proper retrofit.....the price range u listed will not get you ANYTHING new worth putting on ur truck as far as headlights are concerned

Has anyone tried a D2s retrofit in the ebay black housing headlights? I dont see any disadvantages. The clear covers on my stockers are starting to yellow/fog up I want a nice clear headlight.

Some ebay black headlights are known to peel off a clear coat from the inside.....I've seen 1 moderator here have the problem, and I've also seen a member here try and say they just had a lil sticky residue on the outside from "eyelids" or "brows" that he took off and it would come clean easily.....the buyer got screwed, the peeling was indeed on the inside and will not be repairable.....once u touch the inside of the lens, ur opening pandoras box....never touch the inside clear lens on our headlights.

If ur speaking of using the spyder (projector) headlights that have the terrible projectors, and all that blingy stuff (side leds, and other audi wannabe stuff), then yes......Moose used projectors from TRS to retrofit a pair of those.....it was a pita, but they actually work now

Interesting. I was considering using the ebay BHLM stye lights and put my mini d2s's in them. They would look much newer than the ones in my truck. Here is the link to the style I was looking at. http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-08-TACOM...Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e74e8ce8b&vxp=mtr

I am going to stay away from the ebay projectors, like you said they have too much bling. I just want to retain a factory looking headlight painted black with a nice retrofit. But if they get hazy or yellow over a short amount if time I do not want to waste my money on them.

i have HEARD good things about TYC brand headlights......look for them and any reviews here about them.

Any retrofits/BHLM I did were only with OEM tho, so YMMV

I think Rich has had some experience with TYC

TYC is a good maker. My housings are Depo.

I would not buy an aftermarket housing from any company other than those unless given no option.

Thanks for the info guys, I will just use my stockers for now. On the side I will do a TYC/FX-R and see what I like best. Once I get a good combination down I will probably sell them as a hobby.

That output looks pretty good but the cut-off is a bit hight on the right and might be blinding drivers if its the same on the left.

No the cut off on the left is nice and low... Almost too low but I think it'll be great once I get new bulbs. I'm thinking high end sylvania
