trailer light wiring harness help?

I picked up a light kit for my little 7 foot trailer that had everything I needed to hook it up and run it EXCEPT for instructions on how to hook the harness up to my truck. If anybody has any information on how to wire a trailer harness into a 1st gen please let me know. I am scared I will splice into the wrong wires or something.
the kit I am using came from auto zone

just for clarity purposes, I already have the trailer wired up, I just need to know how to wire the plug to the rear end of my truck.

You need a 4flat connector, if you don't have one, you can buy sets that clip inline to your rear lighting harnesses.

for example.... http://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-V...id=20021176458
