Ok so before anyone jumps on me I did search.

I am wanting a brighter more white light for my tacoma. No plans on a retrofit yet for hids. But I do not want to run hids on stock housings simply because I ran them on my mustang and I know I blinded people. And its pointless if i have to aim them to the ground for a cool factor. I have read a little on halogens but nothing really clear.

What are the best brightest but not hid bright light I can buy for fogs and head lights and put out a whiter light?

Again not interested in HID's at all not safe for the other people on the road until I get retro fits.

If I was low to the ground like the mustang I wouldn't care. But im higher than most cars or suvs bumpers

So either everyone is running stock bulbs or hids I guess.

I've seen osram and phillips tossed around. European Halogen bulbs don't have as strict DOT rules and are brighter.

I put in Sylvania Xtravision bulbs from Walmart and definitely see an improvement over stock.

Philips Xtreme Power or PIAA Xtreme White bulbs are pretty good. I've used both and actually went back to PIAA Xtreme White after removing my projectors.

How long do the piaa last? I was reading about them online. Some say they last a year some say 3 months what did you see out of yours? I dont want to spend 70.00 on bulbs to last only 3 months.

Amazon, you can get them for around $50 (at least I found a pair for that a few months ago). My last set was taken out of the truck at a year and still in good working order, I removed them when I installed my retrofit kit. I gave them away so I'm not sure if they're still working or not. I bought my second set and still have to install them. I have cheap-o bulbs in there now.

The Philips bulbs were in my truck for a little over a year and I got hit on one side which caused that bulb to blow. I don't know how much longer they would have lasted because I replaced them with the PIAA bulbs. The Philips bulbs were nice, I just liked the light dispersement of the PIAA bulbs a little better.

Anyone know what how many watts the stock headlamp wiring will hold up to? You can find bulbs online that are 60/65, 70/75, 80/85, and even a 55/100
