I installed the 3five 35W Morimoto mini D2S on my 05 successfully, but they're not very bright. The HID's in the stock housings were brighter. Do I need different bulbs, such as the 5five 50W, or the XB35? And if I switch the bulbs, can I use the same ballast or do I need to change that as well?

Do you have any output shots?

55w HIDs are known to cause heat problems in projectors

Have you adjusted them accordingly? They should be much brighter than even his in reflector housings

I'll take some tonight. Do you mean adjusted as in vertically/horizontally? They seem bright up close, but they don't appear powerful enough further out ( if that makes sense?)

theyre not supposed to shine super far and high, thats the entire point of projectors- so that you don't shine into the eyes of oncoming drivers

but they shouldnt be THAT low, maybe you need to aim them up a little bit

Thanks for the input! I know one of the reasons for projectors are so they don't blind people, but they're not as bright as the ebay ones I put in the 4runner (which came with stock projectors). Here's some pics that I took with the cell, so the quality isn't that great and they look a little brighter then in person. Does that little half moon shape above the passenger side mean I did something wrong?

    Brightness wise, those are perfect.
If you need more range than that, use your high beams.

Your drop-in kit appeared brighter because it was scattering light all over the place and not really putting it only where you needed it.

X3 and you are making it hard for oncoming drivers to see.

Looks like you did a nice job on the install of the true projectors.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.

I noticed the same thing...I have drop-ins in my Honda. They light up the world and make signs glow. I've had them for about 8 years now...

For a while after I did my retrofit, I was thinking that they were nowhere near as bright...until I realized just how bright they actually were where the light was supposed to be.

Saving up for new housings and retrofit for the Honda now to fix the problem that I've been...

    Ditto.

It took me a week or so to get used to it. What was most annoying at first was the obvious cutoff moving up and down as I rolled over bumps and dips.
