hot wire for reverse lights

Once upon a time (last year) there was a thread that included a picture of wiring under the driver side kick panel which pointed out the power supply wire to tap into for reverse lights. I found the thread but the picture and several posts have been removed. I remember it was a yellow wire but not the exact location or cluster of wires. I want to tap into it for aux back up lights so they come on automatically when truck is in reverse. Anyone know which wire I need?

 

Don't get it from under the dash - tap it at the taillight proper - it'll give you a shorter run. See:

You can tap into that circuit by the fuse box, look at this post.

Thanks - just what I needed. That one is red but it's near the fuse panel. Yellow one I was thinking of is in the kick plate. No matter, as long as it's hot when in reverse.

 

Ah. I placed the relay in the taillight cavity next to the taillight.

 

Everything is already wired with on off switch in the cab. Bought a switch that is on on. So on whenever I want or on with reverse. Off would be the reverse position when not in reverse. Just needed to find the reverse wire in tbe cab.
