Driving lights in fog light holes?

Been lurking the site a few months and finally bought a 2010 AC Prerunner 5sp 4cyl and loving it and this website. Lots of great info, thanks to everyone.
My truck does not have fog lights and does not appear to be prewired. I've read lots of threads on lighting here and elsewhere but have not found answers to the following: 1) Who makes a good round approximately 4" driving or Euro light that fits in the stock fog light location? I don't need fogs, rather I want a driving light that can throw more light down the road and operate independently of the stock low/hi beams. Any mounting tips? 2) Halogen, xenon, LED: Any opinions on brand or what fits/works best? Seems like xenon throws the most light with the least power draw, durable, etc. I'm looking for more light (legally?) that fits in the stock bumper holes. Or am I off base and should go with better aftermarket low/hi beams and forget about it?

In my fog light locations with a seperate switch so I can turn them on whenever. They are bright.





At night, fogs only

 

Those Leds are more meant for off road, could blind people on the hwy. I installed factory fog lights for my 4cyl. Tw members sell them somewhat often if they install an off road bumper.

 

What is ballpark price for used fog lights.

Like Juggernaut said, those LEDs recommended by Little812 are meant for off-road, in other words not street legal as the diffuse light will blind oncoming traffic. If you are looking at an off-road use I think these lights fit the bill but I have not proceeded with the project as I wanted something for street use.

 

That location may not be ideal for driving lights.

Fog lights tend to be mounted as low as possible, the idea is to increase the parallax between the light source and your eyes and light up the road right in front of your vehicle.

Driving lights are mounted higher on the vehicle, usually above bumper height so the light doesn't hit the ground right in front of the truck and decrease the range. When you're going 70 or 80 mph, who cares what's 20 feet in front of you? The idea is to see things way down the road on dark nights.
