I'm looking at replacing my head and fog lights with LED bulbs but I was reading that they don't heat up the lens enough to melt ice and snow on really cold days. Or they lose effectiveness when snow is falling.
I come to TW to get the straight goods, so I'm asking; Does anyone have experience with LED headlights in really cold weather? This winter we've had lots of -35 Celsius type of cold. Any feedback that would help justify or discourage me from buying these in a cold climate?
Appreciate it. Please feel free to call me a noob and direct me to the 44 threads that have covered this already. Thanks

the LEDs do no output as much thermal heat as a Halogen or HID. they are designed to be low power draw and efficient. Different reports for light but it seems you get the same or "slightly" better output than halogen with a "whiter" light look.

That light output has a different effect on rain/snow due to reflection and may be worse for visuals in your case. Could always swap in yellow fogs that are better for those conditions.

haven't really seen any pictures with members yet.

nah, have stayed away for now. not worth the $ for the same light output, sure they look cool but I'd rather drop the same amount towards a retrofit from TRS

Gotcha. I wonder if anyone else has gone a winter with LEDS?
