Im running 500 watts of aux light right now and want to run more. I have no idea what Im doing, by the way. Am I messing up my alternator? Will I need to install an additional battery at one point?

Depends. Are your lights flickering at all? If not you're probably ok. I'm running about the same amount of watts plus my amp not included. I've already upgraded to a high output alt/big 3/nice wiring and I'm STILL having issues. So I def need a 2nd battery. I might've been ok with just a second battery to begin with. As far as messing up your alt? I have no idea. I'm sure someone else can pitch in regarding that. But that's why I went the safe route and upgraded.

Yes. Get a bigger alternator and yes. Get a second battery.

I have over 600w and it makes a difference.
