I'm installing led strip bed lights. I want always on 12vdc. I've run into a bit of a problem. The coin tray fuse panel only has one constant 12vdc socket, which is the power door locks (is this correct) 20 amps. The add a circuits at the automotive stores are all 10 amp rated. I was looking to not modify factory wiring for my power source. I've already run the main wire from bed to panel and I don't want to run to battery.

    Any suggestions.

The main purpose of fuses/circuit breakers in electrical circuits is to protect the wiring from an overload. If the aggregate load on an existing OEM fused circuit, you should run a new fused circuit protected circuit with with wire sized large enough for the load, distance and temperature. Insurance claim adjusters look for improperly installed aftermarket wiring or protection when there are vehicle electrical fires so they can recommend denying the claim.

It's a couple of amps led and I've run the appropriate home run. That wasn't he question tho. Just ordered a new style low profile add a circuit online they don't carry them in local part stores yet. Door locks is the only constant on at 20 amps in the cab panel unfortunately

Yah if I was going into engine bay I'd just use the battery. Just decided to use power door locks 20 Amps nothing else on it and always on.

Curious how long it will record on constant until it starts re-recording over what you have recorded! I'll assume your using a 32gb?

I'd hate to have something caught on the camera yesterday, but by the time you check today, it's been recorded over.

I have a 64gb memory card for just that reason. Actually have 2 just incase there's something important on 1 that needs saving. With my dashcam software, I can pull/save individual videos and pictures to my phone for storage.

And just an FYI, the Fuse spot for 2010 Tacoma power outlets are "always on." Even though the 12v isn't always running that fuse is, so I did an "add-a-fuse" from that.

edit: Sry, to answer your question I can get about 4-5 days worth of vids and motion detection pictures before it begins to erase. (depends how much actual driving you do, this is parked at the end of my driveway just recording everyone that comes in)
