Custom OEM LED Tail Lights

Stock:


Project objectives:
- Remove all gaudy stock chrome
- Match new LS430-retrofitted headlights

Modified (in progress):


Changes to lights:
- Morimoto xB LED DRL1 reverse lights (because the reflectors are useless)
- Piano black respray on all surfaces
- Stock side reflector / marker maintained (tinted)
- V3 Triton amber turn signal bulb (because the reflectors are useless)

I was planning on doing something like this soon too. My question is how are most tail lights sealed? Same as a headlight? Just bake it a little bit and separate?

Just a small update:

Converted the reverse light wiring over to 9006 for a quick connection to the X.DRL1. I will convert the X.DRL1 to 9006F instead of the normal 9006M due to limited length on the harness side.


Went ahead and popped in the V3 Tritons:


Pick up the last piece of the painted parts tomorrow so there will be another update then.

I'm curious as to how well the Triton's will work without a reflector bowl.

I'm going to be running them without a reflector bowl as DTRL's since the lights I just are blacked out and don't have the bowls.
