    Yep.
If I remember right I changed 11 total. when I ordered mine I got 20 of each (white/blue). the led's are cheap, so get extras. you might fry one or decide you want to change all your "idiot'' lights too.

it looks like yours fades kinda to red in the higher speeds... if you put a white orange and red would it fade a bit more?

    1. Do you place an LED of the color you want behind the needle and also paint it the same color? (ex. blue LED, blue paint)

    2. What type of paint are you using for the needle itself?

    3. Do you know if the center console uses LEDs as well?

    Thanks!

to change the color of the needle you re paint it white with the color led behind it. the white will reflect the color of the light.

On the TN forum it shows the soddering iron used for the mod. Is the soddering iron only needed if you take out the door buzzer? Are the LED's just plug and play or are they soddered on as well?

Man I want to try this mod but I have no soldering experience whatsoever! If I were to try and say "fry" an LED, is that the worst I could do? Or cold someone with 0 experience jack up the whole board? I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, but I have no experience with electrical or working on something like this lol

when i did it with my stealth, i used nail polish to remove the stock paint. then a acrylic model paint. find it at any hobby store. try to find one with metallic flakes to help refract the light more.

haha no its just that i ordered the *exact* amount of LEDs it would take to replace the ones i wanted. I never calcumalated for errors, so the 3 LED (which also happened to be the first i soldered) didn't work so i replace it with a yellow one i had taken off. I just got lazy and didn't order anymore, but i will and i'm planning on changing the rest of the lights as well i.e. CEL, brights, blah blah blah

what i did was just sand down the back of the needle with fine sandpaper, and took off all the orange. sanding it reflects the light back, worked for me :notsure:

Its easy to do, I just used my 30watt soldering iron from radioshack, some soldering wick and the smalled rosin core solder they had. The only way you can screw up your board is if you leave the soldering iron on the board, or solder 2 or morethings that shouldn't be soldered. its easy but it takes practice. I had done it before but that was like 4 years ago so i practiced on an old remote control car. once i got the hang of it, i was good. finished real quick. Don't forget to remember where your needle are. My Full tank was on the E, when i turned it off, the needle went all the way to the PRNDL area

I used model paint also when i do the needles. I also used 600grit sand paper to sand the needles. I wonder how it would look with chrome paint on the back of the needle.

Anyone know about the center console? Does it use LEDs as well?

    Thanks!
