I've seen trucks replace their headlights by inserting pods in the housing
Is this legal for on road use

Where has common sense gone?

No offense OP, but do you think that 3000+ lumen LED pods are legal to use on the road as headlights?

I heard Rigid Industries recently came out with DOT approved lights... maybe thats what is mounted in the headlight housing??....

I saw it the other day, the lights have a cutoff similar to projector headlights

I still wouldn't run them. Why have an LED pod when you can get projectors and LED bulbs or HIDs? The pods just don't look like they belong there lol

I would think its Illegal... because the light output is either O or o (Flood vs Spot). Low Beams have a cut off pattern so your not blinding the other drive.

Anything that didn't come stock from the factory is technically illegal... There is not a single OEM that has LED pods as their headlights. All aside from the fact that those would just be blinding as shit to everyone on the road.

This. Even with a full retro, some states can still give you tickets for modifying stock headlights.

Damn didn't know so many people didn't like the idea of pods in head lights. That Tacoma is actually my truck and I built those headlights when I was living in Oklahoma lol and Tulsa police never had an issue with them. I actually got complimented by cops when they pulled up next to me at gas stations . I actually have them aimed downward , I know they don't have a cut off point but the way they are mounted with the angle , they don't blind anyone

OleRebel, was/is the light greatly or just barely diminished with having smoked lenses?
