Just picked up a set of PIAA 520 fog lights from a friend. Understand I’m supposed to tap into a power source near the ignition harness to ensure the lights only come on when the truck’s low beam driving lights are on.

I don’t want to do that.

Where can I hook up the PIAA “switch powerline” to have the fog lights come on whenever I want?

Electricity is not my friend….so looking for as simple as possible.

this simplest solution is to draw it direct from the positive terminal on the battery. make sure you put a low amperage fuse there since it's a low gauge wire and it's only purpose is to power the solenoid and the indicator lamp in the switch (if there is one)

Fergyz – I have what looks to be the original wiring harness. Took the lights off a used adventure bike that I recently picked up and intend to install them on my truck. On the BMW,the“power switch” wire was spliced into the bike’s dashboard wiring loom to meet the legal requirement of only operating while running lights are on. I want to be able to turn them on whenever I want – so I need to find a positive power source the runs all the time.

Bjmoose – thought about sending the “power switch” wire to the positive battery terminal, but did not think about adding a fuse. Guess I should just man-up and find the power source for the head lights under the dash as per the instructions.

since the wire for powering the switch/relay is low current (less than half an amp), you can easilypower that by using an add-a-circuit and connecting it to one of the fuses in the fuse box. one that is only on when the ignition is on. the radio fuse should be one.
