Hid questions

I have a set of aftermarket headlights and was wondering how I could go about converting them into hid's. They have H1 bulbs high and low beam total 4 bulbs. Just wondering how and if the harness would allow 2 complete kits? (1 kit for low and 1 kit for high beam). I know that there is a group buy on them but I found them at ddmtunig.com for $65 (slim digital balast) with a lifetime warranty compared to $104 with the group buy.

 

Go with DDMTuning. You're going to pay more in the GB for the same stuff.

 

DDM kits are really good. My ballast are going out. Well one is out. Im ordering a ddm kit soon.

i have the same lights but the black ones and i could not find a kit that served for high and low beams since they were in seperate lenses word of advise though, dont go over 6500k because you start losing light, i didnt do my research and i got the 10000k lights and they are dim, i regret it and they blind other people.

 

Thanks I kind of thought the hid kit on the gb was a little much. I am thinking about the 6000K for the low beam and I guess keep the silverstars for the high beam. BTW 98 mud bug where did you find the smoked side markers? I have looked everywhere for a set of those. would have went with the smoked headlights if I could have found a set of those sidemarker lights. That way i would have been smoked all the way around

 

Also from ddmtuning they offer 35W and 55W kits. if i were to go with the 6000K for the low beams should i go with the 35W or 55W. I like them to be bright but i dont want to blind everybody i pass. Which one should i go with?

 

It's kind of dumb to get HIDs for your high beams since they are separate.

1, it's a whole nother kit.

2, you will have to wait for the HID capsule to warm up before you can even flash someone or light up the dark road ahead of you.

 

my buddy has the 55 watt kit in his bmw. TOO BRIGHT. those belong in offroad lights. 35 are fine.

 

thanks I thought that the 55W would be to bright. and i got to looking around at some videos of some people with hids and noticed what Viet2100 said about them having to warm up. I am deff. going to leave my high beams alone.

 

I just got the 35w 6000k HIDs from ddm tuning for my car. It has seperate hi/lo beams but believe me you won't need 2 kits. The 35w kit makes my brights seem lamer than regular fog lights, you can't tell their even on. One set & the rest of your lights will be accent only, other than some offroad lights that won't blind.

 

I had heard that there could be a slight flickering problem with the 35w kit due to the fact the OEM bulbs are 55w and by putting the 35w replacement the computer thinks you have a headlight out due to the less draw on current from oem. Im not sure if this is true can someone verify
if their lights flicker with the 35w kit.
