Dome light help...

Im wondering if someone could help me out with my dome light. Its been flickering and not working sometimes and was going to change the bulb to a LED and was wondering how to get the cover off. I couldnt get it the other day.
And will changing the bulb stop the flickering? thanks!

 

Well I got some LEDs to hook up, and I got it all hooked up, But can someone tell why they only work when I turn my reading lights upfront on? other wise they barely come on. HELP! please..

 

I had a problem with the dome light flickering also. I removed the lens cover and simply tightened down the screw that the switch pivots on. Has worked fine since.

 

cool. I was wondering why my new LED's only come on when I turn my map lights on though? well they barely come on.

 

what kind of led you got?

i got mine from oznium.com and gave me no problems.

no actually two of the bulbs went out but they sent me a new one quick and no other problems since

 

I got some from autozone that looked pretty good and really close to the same as the oznium ones. the guy said he gots the same ones in his truck and work fine, but it looks like there not getting enough juice or something. I have to turn on my map light to make them bright.

 

nobody knows why? I would hate to have waisted 15 bucks on these.

 

really? that would make the LED really low, and then when I turn on the map light it turns really bright?

 

sounds like a grounding issue maybe. something in that circuit isn't sending power correctly.. I'd get in there, take the dome light out, clean up all the connections and reinstall. You'd probably fix it at that point and not even know what exactly was wrong

 

I will try that. But when I put the stock bulb back in, It works fine. huh....

 

LEDs use different amounts of power than regular incandescent bulbs. You know when one of your turn signals are out cause when you turn on your signal, the blinker goes super quick... thats cause theres an extra amount of power in the system because the blinker is only firing one lamp instead of two. Some things get strange when the original prescribed amount of power is or isnt being used.. like say, when you turn on your map lamp and your dome gets kinda strange.

 

huh... well Im ganna have to try to clean it and see what happens.

 

Im ganna be getting some LED's for my map lights as well. And found some from superbrightleds.com and was wondering If anyone has tryed them? If there products are good?

 

well I took it all apartr and the connection was good and I just cant figure it out!
I geuss I waisted my money on this piece of crap light!
Now Im not sure if even ones from oznium will work. My stocks really suck! I want some LED's in there but want to them work correctly!

maybe I have to put LED's in all 3 of my lights in order for them to work correctly?

 

yah, dont have anything different for ya.. i think maybe the LEDs are messing with the power in the system like i was saying earlier. But good luck - let us know whenever you figure it out!

 

This whole thing sounds like a bad ground.
