Map Light Splicing

Anybody know how to get to the wiring in the overhead front lights in an 09 Taco?

I'm trying to get some neon tubes to go on/off in association with the interior map lights. Trying to get the neon wires spliced in with the switches wires, but not sure which is the correct wire, nor how to take off the entire overhead carpeting. I'm happy I figured out the plastic on the A-frame.

Edit 2: I guess now my question is, how can I splice the wiring of my new light to the on/off switch in the map lights? I think I'd pull the entire switch apart. I've already figured out which of the wires is live, and had to replace a fuse along the way (after a brief panic attack). I guess I'm learning...

 

Are these neon tubes going in the foot wells? If so, why don't tap them into your parking lights?

 

They are the neon tubes. Normally I wouldn't spring for something so chintzy, but they were cleareance for $5, so I picked up the last 2 whites.

I put them in the footwells, to be used as aux lights when the map light is turned on. The thinking being, the map and dome lights don't light up the footwells that easily.

Plus, being white, I don't want them on all the time while driving.

Just make sure you get the proper sized connectors based on the wire gauge you are tapping into.
