Why not just get your truck wired for white strobes? Either way, I'd stay away from blue and red altogether...

if u wana get lights get the white strobes that go inside your headlight housing... they wont be noticed and you shouldnt have a problem with them off road. red and blue will get you in some shit.... unless of course you are a volunteer firefighter or something where u can have them :]

You should pull over my roommate. He has a White Charger and Its a Daytona Ed so it has navy blue on the sides as well and the Dumb ass has red and blue ones in the grille and in the back window. Oh he also has the visor light out of the undercover cars. I told him he is fucking stupid because if he uses them and get caught he is screwed. He pulled me over one night after a party on my way home and freaked me out then drove away giving me the finger. Yes, that was funny now but I was PISSED at the time.

I wouldnt do it if I were you. You might get away with it by not using them on the road but who knows what will happen. I know in some states they let Firefighters/EMS people to put some on their vehicles but that all just depends on the state and county. I wanted to put some on my Tacoma but the State of Nevada doesnt allow personal vehicles to have emergency lights or sirens so I didnt even bother.

Man .... if you had them on your truck, you KNOW that you would use them the first time some old lady in a Buick was driving slowly in front of you when you couldn't pass!! Then you'd get caught and get a big fine!! Or at least I KNOW that I would use them the first time that some old lady was in font of me LOL.

Don't do it .... far to tempting.

    Cheers.

Yeah, pretty much don't do it. Especially Red/blue/purple/green. All of those denote some sort of emergency vehicle and are illegal in all states unless you're a volunteer of some sort.

Federally, there is no regulation on corresponding colors to types of emergency vehicles (ie. blue for po-po, red for fire). I know in some states its illegal to even carry emergency lights (lightbars) in/on your vehicle if they're not in the original packaging.

Amber lights on the other hand are a very big grey area in a lot of states. Not much saying you "can't" put them on your vehicle, but don't even think about turning them on if its not an emergency.

Granted, I will have my traffic advisor back on my truck soon, but I've done my research with the states I drive through. Plus I'm a volunteer back home. And if I have any doubt, I just dismount it.

Bottom line, if you have any doubt, don't do it. It usually works for the best that way. And like others have said here, if you're one of those people that might get tempted to flash em on in traffic...don't do it...

    Pretty much stock
like everyone else has stated...stay away from red/blue lights. I am a sworn officer and i cannot have them in my POV without written approval from the Chief. I have tossed the idea around of putting white/amber lights in my truck incase i run up on an accident or situation while off duty and need to direct or block traffic (because technically i am never off duty). You can get the led bars from ebay super cheap and they would be fine for occasional use. And if you are the type that might use them in traffic don't even put them on, because its temping trust me...sometimes when im in a hurry to get somewhere i find myself getting ready to run cleared red lights...then im like shit im not in the police car. Check your local laws, around here vol. fire can run white/red lights, so that maybe an option if you want to volunteer.

i dont know if its illegal or not, but down here ive got ambers in the window, and whites in the headlights, and tails, and on several occasions ive stopped to help change a flat, plug a radiator, and that fun stuff. A few time officers have stopped to make sure everything was alright but thats all. NO need to use them illegally, but its nice to be seen a little more on the side of the road

this has turned into a story thread.

In most provinces in canada volunteers are permitted to have green lights in their vehicles. This includes search and rescue, firefighters, disaster response

Here you go.. If you want some strobes that you can get away with, go with white and amber, or just white. I'm actually selling a SHO-ME control box also. This is used by many law enforcement departments across the nation, and they are bright as hell. Just stick with white or white and yellow. I repeat, DO NOT use red and or blue lights on a civilian vehicle. That is one hell of a mistake.

If you do headlight strobe, they mount nicely like this:
