It will work. But it's not a switched power source so it's hot all the time. If you do that mod your fogs will not turn off when the ignition is off. Owner beware.

Relax. Patience. We're all volunteers here.

This is a great mod! I get annoyed when I switch to high beams and lose significant lighting in front of the truck. Now I will have the fog lights. Sweet! Thanks Crom

    *********EDIT

My friends 2010 that we used an add a circuit on the single 10 amp mini fuse shown just above the fog lamp relay, that way it is switched. Not sure why mouser would use the dome fuse.

    Glad to help. :)

Okay. I'll test with a multimeter and confirm. If there is switched power in the fuse block we should know about it! :D

i realize that i did it wrong before i got it right, i tried just sticking the wire down in the hole, and having the fuse come down ontop of it, then this morning, all of those weird things went wrong. im pretty sure is a messed up fuse in there somewhere, but which one would cause that???
i have checked all of the ones under the dash and there all fine, so which one in the black box would it be???

I have not further probed the fuse block for additional switched power. I suppose I could try again. I have been very busy and was hoping someone with more time would beat me to it.

It's impossible to diagnose through the Internet... I hope you got it all worked out.

Crom, I will check this out this evening in my 2011, and I appreciate all the work you did a while back, it will save me a lot of time! I'm also going to look at the DTRL manual override mod as well. Thanks again!

problem solved!!!!!! after hrs of looking in the black fuse box and checking each fuse by eye, i decided to break out my test light, checked all of them, and there all good, so i also decided to check by eye under the dash once more, they looked fine.....so i tried the test light again, and it was a freaking 10A fuse that powered all of that crap! so lesson learned: always use the test light first!

however i am not going to re-attempt to do this mod, because i also found out today it is illegal to run fogs without headlights on in my state....

I did this on my 2011. 2012 and 2013 may be different.

Done with fog light mod in 10 minutes! I used a male thin profile blade connector from a stereo harness and slid it into the factory harness behind the ignition wire. Didn't like the idea of cutting into the factory wire, and this is a super tight connection. Anyway, pics below and thanks for all the info!:D Cmatt, glad you figured it out man!

Crom, BTW, probed the block and all are hot +12v unswitched

Glad you got it figured out. Thanks for letting us know. :)

I really like your solution! I am going remove my splice, seal the ignition wire with liquid tape, and find a thin profile blade connector like you used. Kudos to you! Rep incoming. Thanks for probing the block too!

Edit: I updated the 1st post with a link to your post with pics so that others may use this superior method for the mod.

I used an add a circuit off my headlight fuse under dash.....so I have to at least have the parking lights on to use the fogs.....and I can also have fogs on while using hi-beam.....
