No problem, i was hoping i caught you before you went to all the trouble, i had been thinking of doing the BHLM, but got my hands on a set of these headlight and tried this procedure and it worked very easy. For me, for now at least, i dont need the BHLM since these are the darker lights.

Oh yeah....I was sweatin it because I don't want to paint mine or anything I just need to get rid of the lenses so this saved me a shitload of time and whatnot. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas but i didn't know where to ask. I went thru this thread to see the steps i'm going to have to take.

Your idea makes this SO less painful and less damn depressing seeing those lenses sitting inside the housing just hanging out sliding around!!

Thanks again. So appreciate the heads up.

so disappointed... i've done on other vehicles in the past and i will say that the 12 lights are the easiest, however i guess i was a little finger happy on the spray can last night and got runs.... any suggestions other then sanding them down?

If you threw them in the over right after you painted, the runs might have smoothed out. If it's dry now, you might be screwed with the exception of sanding.

    2012 BHLM differences

So the 2012 is a little different, first of all, getting to the bolt inside the fender to get the headlight out, is the worst thing in the world.

once it's out, you can follow the normal steps, however, with the 2005-2011's, there is only 3 screws holding the light together, with the 2012, there are 8, nicely placed around the headlight, because of this, and the amount of glue from the dealer, I didn't replace the stock glue with window weld, time will tell how well it works, but it seemed to seal up good.

there is also no masking off to be done with the 2012, the orange reflector pops out, and you can paint the whole thing. really it was a pretty easy mod.

Not sure why, the 3rd bolt is in the same location at the 05-11's, just go through the wheel well and there's no pain involved. Never understood why people use the crazy reach approach for that bolt, it is so easy to get just by peeling back the wheel well liner slightly.
