My dome isn't working proper

Howzit going everyone out there in Tacoma World. I am new to the forum trying to find some help to fix the little things going on wrong with my truck. The one that get's to me the most is my dome light. It doesn't go one unless the key is in the ignition, and turned at least to the first position or with the truck running, Why?
I had changed it to the LED light set up, and kind of blows entering a dark truck at night. Any thoughts?
