How to remove factory fog lights?

I have condensation in my factory fog lights. I need to remove them so I can dry it up and re seal. I cant find any instructions and can't quite figure it out myself. Anyone know how to remove the factory fogs on a 2nd gen Tacoma?

Remove the grille for easier access (headlights if you want to, too). They pop right out, there are retainers on both the right side and left side of the foglight. Do not touch the adjustment knob.

 

grill or bumper?? you should be able to pop the fog lights out. just stick your head under and you'll be able to see how they are connected

 

just reach up from under the bumper and they will pop right out. push from the back of the light, there are little clips on the bumper that hold them in, pull those out and push, it'll come right out the front.

 

Haha the method you guys are describing is too vague. Removing the grille (headlights too if you want) will give you a better view and easier to reach. No need to remove the bumper.

 

From underneath I cant see any clips. Maybe ill try and take the grill out so I can see better from the top.

 

go stick your head under the bumper where you are looking at the foglight from the rear...its not a clip really, its a piece of the bumper that when you push the light in from the front it just snaps in. once you figure it out your gonna smack yourself on the forehead. I've had mine out so much that i can do it just by sticking my arm up in the bumper.

No luck last night.
Are the clips 2 circle things on each side of the light that must be pushed on? because I can get one loose but the other wont budge.

 

unclip the one side..then try and turn it a little bit..they will come right out of the front

 

Once I have 1 pushed in the other one wont budge. I dont know how anyone could do this with there fingers. Im pushing with a screwdriver and it still not budging.

Has anyone done this without removing anything (grill, bumper, headlights?)

This is a PITA out of all the mods ive done this is by far the hardest!!! I cant get these freakin lights out.

 

yea, unclip the one side and push, it should twist a little and come out

 

Use a small flat head to pry it out.

 

I did all that ^^^. Ill try again tonight.

I'm assuming you were eventually able to remove the fog lights from the bumper...

How did you remove the condensation? Any tips?

 

The fog lights do not come apart like the headlights. You can dry them out by pulling the bulb and letting the moisture naturally dry out. The problem is, you could end up with water spots that would be slightly difficult to remove (can be done with a little patience and maybe some jetdry). You then need to figure out why they leaked in the first place and seal them up with some silicone sealant.

 

Thanks Pugga. I should have addressed the moisture issue long before but just put it off until now. I currently don't have any condensation (not anymore) in the housing but because of the water that got in there a while back and dried out, it has a dirty yellowish color to the lens.

Since they don't come apart like the headlights, I'm thinking of buying one of those brushes that are used for washing baby's bottles & such with the foam on the end to scrub the inside of the lens through the hole where the bulb goes in. Thinking of simply using soapy water... Any other product I should use instead?

 

I would just remove the bulbs and blow compressed air into the housing.

 

Soapy water will work. Jet dry helps dry spots on the inside so you can get a clear lens when you're done. Just be careful not to use anything that will eat at the chrome reflective surface. It's very soft and comes off easy. Here's a thread if you decide to get ambitious and tear into the lights. It can be done, it's just not overly simple to do.
