There's an outside chance it has something to do with your parking brake switch. The DTRL's aren't supposed to activate until / unless the Body ECU receives an 'OFF' signal from the switch.

Did you ever fix your issue? Was it the parking brake?

OK I will continue this thread. My DTRL does not work either.

1st - I have an 07 Prerunner DC Auto trans - Is DTRL standard or optional?
2nd - I have made sure all the conditions are met for the DTRL to work.
3rd - My parking brake dash light turns off when I release the break - How else would you check the parking break switch?

X2. I installed my DTRL's because it did not come with it when I bought it. I know if my emergency brake is engaged when I start my truck, they wont turn on until I release the emergency brake. But other then that, I havent had any issues with them (knock on wood).

The DTRL's run through a relay, did you check it?

X2. Its under the steering wheel in the back somewhere. I had to install the relay as part of my DTRL's.

Any specifics about where or what the relay looks like?

I have a similar problem but my DTRL's just have a mind of there own. One moment the left light will go out then if the moment feels right the right one will go then the left will go back on again or they will just both go out. I checked connections and replaced the flasher relay is there any thing in the circuit that i might be missing?

the only thing that i found is that with two lights on the one circuit it overloads the computer sensor or what ever it is and shuts the circuit down. one thing i was going to try was put one of those LED lights in the bumper as they have low amp draw
