97 Tacoma 4WD. I am thinking about an HID conversion. I have looked all over the net and can't find an HID kit for a 97 4WD. Sellers say 97 2WD is OK but not a 97 4WD. Not sure if it is because of the vehicle height difference or some other reason. I have sealed beam headlights so would need "open beam headlights" to acommodate HID bulbs. One vendor sells a universal type of open beam housing that will fit multiple vehicles but I distrust that the reflection geometry in the headlight housing would work for many different vehicles.

Anyone know of a complete HID conversion kit with headlamp housings available that are specifically designed for a 97 Tacoma 4WD?

I dont know of a complete all in one kit, but my roommate tim put in the non-sealed housings in his '96 and then did an HID conversion on them. The housings were just ordered off ebay(yeah, you're right, shitty lighting geometry IMO) but i've heard companies like Hella also make retrofits. For the HID kit to fit in whatever housing, either check out DDM tuning, or for a little more $$ but better service, member Slimcubby does group buys on HID kits almost monthly.

Here's tim's profile, you can PM him with questions if you want.

read this thread. tons of great info. there are no goo plug and play HID kits. your going to have to do a retrofit.
