I've got a red one in mine. Tinted it with nightshade so that you can't see it unless it's turned on. Just did it for shits and giggles, but it's fun just to play around with. Will try to get a video of it and post sometime...

 

Usually its for the alarm. In most states (if not all), it would be highly illegal to run blue or red in the front of your vehicle while on the road unless you were authorized to do so (emergency vehicle).

Depending on how friendly your law enforcement is, just having the blue or red leds there could get you anything from a warning to being towed/arrested (for impersonating law enforcement).
