DDM H4 HID's with glare shield?

Put my 5000K kit in today and noticed that the glare shield that comes on the bulbs only focuses light on the top half of the headlights. (I assume to aim the light downward and prevent and light from going up by not using the bottom half of the headlight). Just wanted to know if this is how it's supposed to be. Anyone else running the same kit with similar outcome?

 

It hits the top of the housing and is reflected low towards the ground. If it hit the bottom of the housing then it would bounce up in the air and blind other drivers. So yes, it's suposed to be that way.

anyone remove the shields?? or would that just way to bright for on-coming traffic?

Yup, looks just like that. I've had a pair of HID's without the housings, but I would always get high beamed. These have been good with not blinding others.
