Are Retro Fit Projectors easy to install?

I'm looking at purchasing some new headlights pretty soon. At first I was looking at CCFL Halo Projectors with 6000K HID's. Then after reading a little more on here, I found that a lot of people are wanting the retro fit projectors. I was just wanting to know if the install is fairly easy. Before installing though, I plan on painting the inside of the headlight black to go with the black and white theme.

Bi-Xenon FW-R Stage lll Kit
Ballasts - Morimoto 3Five (35w)
Bulbs - Morimoto 3Five 6000K D2S
CCFL Angel Eyes - Yes
Projectors - LHD
Shrouds - E55-R
Wire Harness - Relay: H4/9003


Will this work, and how easy is the install? I just don't want to have to cut anything.

 

The process isn't overly difficult, it just takes a lot of patience. You're basically tearing apart your headlight assembly, mounting in a projector that wasn't meant to be there, aiming them up, wiring in the HID (should be plug and play) and remounting. The FX-R takes more work than the morimoto minis. The FX-R projectors are larger and require more trimming to make them fit. The biggest deal with installing the FX-R is getting the rotational alignment correct. I have the Mini D2S kit. The D2S mounts through the hole from the factory bulb and uses lock rings so you don't have to worry about rotational alignment.

 

I really appreciate the information... still don't know if I could do it myself because I'm not really a DIY person. The only other option that I know is buying some after market CCFL Halo Projector lights and upgrading them with HID bulbs. Now, I could do that... I just don't know what the quality would be like.

 

If you go that route you will be really disappointed in the output of the light. Some of those lights have really strange cutoff patterns. There are people on here that will do them for you, but it will cost you a couple hundred in labor.
