HELP with reverse lights

Hey guys..i bought a tailgate light bar and it has reverse lights and i need to splice into my reverse lights for them to come on..can anyone tell me what color the REVERSE light wire is on an 05 tacoma?

Not sure of the wire color, but pull a tail light out and look at the back. It will be very obvious. You can see which socket is the reverse light bulb, one of the two wires will be common to every light back there (ground). The other is reverse.

 

Remove the taillight and its the red wire with white stripe.

 

I read that it was the red wire before so I tried it and it wont light up.

Did you ground the tailgate bar? How many wires does it have coming out of it? Does anything else on that bar work? Is it LED? LEDs don't work if you have the power and ground wires backwards.

A picture of the tailgate light bar you bought and it's wiring connections may help us help you out. Here is the wiring diagram. Should be red wire with white stripe for positive and white wire with black stripe for negative (ground). Both wires should be accessable at the rear of the light socket that holds the stock back up light bulb.
