75w ballasts 55w bulbs?

hey guys does anyone here run or ever have ran 75w ballasts with 55w bulbs in there headlights? im in the process of getting a kit for my gf and they are offering the 75w for the same price as the 55. i have a 55w kit in my yoda now and was wondering if i could just run those ballasts as well as not melt my headlights thanks

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me... I'd keep the bulbs paired with the ballasts their intended to run off of.

true but do you think the 75w's will melt the housings? i know most cheap kits actually use 35w bulbs on the 55 watt kits

I'm not an expert on HID's, I'm just speaking from wiring in general so my response might not be what you're looking for. Generally with electronics, if things are designed to handle XX amount of power, putting XX + 1 power through it doesn't seem like a good idea for the device's longevity. Along with that, if the device fails because it's got too much power running through it, wires can melt, housings can melt, or it can be as simple as just blowing a bulb. In my opinion, the risks don't outweigh the benefits.

Thanks for everyones input. Honestly i dont need the 75w kit my lights are plenty bright. Im just going to see what my output is at my bulbs since it is probably not the true 55w and maybe pot mod the ballasts about 5w more

Please don't run 75w or 55w on the street. 35W is bad enough. The best thing that can happen for everyone's sake is they melt the housings and/or burn out the bulbs post-haste.

I have been running my 55w bi xenons for about 6 months and i never get flashed. Honestly i see so many people running 35w and 55w kits around here and i dont get blinded by them. I know its not legal but if i had the money right now i would retro fit my black housings with 3in projectors but im in school now and cant really go that route but i plan on it soon. Also in rectangle/square reflector housings glare isnt as bad as round or other style lights, my mom actually has a set of 8000k 55w in her denali and the output is crap and does blind people sometimes

8000K is just for show and useless in rain/fog/snow/dust anyways, that's got a lot to do with her output.
The bluer the worse on ur own eyes as well as others, blue is fatiguing to the eyes.

That's the concensus, not just my opinion.

I have 8000k in mine but they look like 6000k with a very slight blue tint i can see great with them. 55w washes the color out quite a bit. Really depends on the bulbs i guess
