I am trying to decide if I want to swap out my '97 stock tail lights to the Spyder LED tail and 3rd brake lights or just swap out all of the light bulbs in my stock tail and 3rd brake lights to LED bulbs.

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are about it.

I've seen LED swaps on vehicles and to be honest I wasn't impressed. halogen and LED lights are extremely different in method of lighting so so their housings reflect (haha, get it?) each of their lighting types. I'd just go with the full swap and don't even dick with the conversion, gives a nice updated look to the ol flat tail lights anyway

Thanks for the feedback. Don't know why I didn't get notified of your response, just came across it while I was looking through my threads.

That's a good point. I haven't seen any stock housings with the LEDs swapped out, but I have seen the full swap, does look pretty clean, but also was thinking that the stock tails would look better, but that probably doesn't matter.

Does anyone have any suggestions for LED tail lights and 3rd brake lights besides Spyder?
    Pics would help.

    I run LED's in a smoked housing....

    Thanks for the pics.

I like the smoke the best. My Taco is white so, it might look the best compared to the red ones (I don't like the clear ones). With it being smoked, I am wondering if the reverse lights aren't as bright? Being that it's not that dark of a smoke, it probably doesn't effect it? I have tinted rear windows, so I put LEDs in for my reverse lights because it was hard to see backing up. I've noticed that Spyder didn't make the turn signals LED as well as the brake/tail lights. I wonder why that is.

they probably didnt make the turn signals because you would need to put a resister in to make sure u dont get a super turn singal that blinks really fast. If you dont put one it the truck will think the rear bulb is burnt out.
