Ok I am planning on getting the Apexcone Raptor V2 Mid Sized HID kit from DDM's website. Wondering if I should get the 35w in 6000k or the 55w in the 8000k. Basically I need to know 35 or 55?

8000k is too much blue for my tastes, but if that's what you're going for I'm sure you'll be pleased.

The more blue means less light output, but if that's what floats your boat then go for it.

    Is your 6000k kit a 55w or 35w? 6000k usually has a nice hint of blue if it's a 35w kit.

dont mean to be a downer on your excitement, but you asked and i have firsthand experience, so here goes...

this picture will tell the whole story...i dont even need to say any more...
    HIDtruth_c2971218b30a5f087dec13a217ae67c3ccff98ae.jpg

and yes your output will be that bad or worse, as you have aftermarket headlights...and yes, i had a 98 w/ those exact headlights, and i noticed a difference for the worse in the beam pattern from stock, cant even imagine how bad they are gonna be w/ a PNP kit..

Exactly, the "normal" you see is the glare that you have. Very bad if you're an oncoming driver headed in the opposite direction.

when they say 8000k has less light output, it is comparing to 6000k hids. 8000k will be brighter than your stock lights for sure. i have 8000k on my tacoma and it aint to blue th_tacoma_215e0d67a1afe3d4afa707a6c56b3428ac27da5d.jpg

The "K" refers to the color temperature of the light, not the amount of light the HIDs are out putting. The more blue the light the less light output. Below is a color chart.

6000K will be less blue than 8000K. Less blue=more light output.... up to a certain point.

Not only that, but there's lumens (how bright something is) and CRI which says how much of that light is actually useful. I don't think any HID mfg posts their cri though.
