Aiming my headlights

For some reason i can get my driver side to line up just fine but my passenger side will not move when i twist the alignment screws. Anyone have any ideas?

I actually have to do this once I get home tonight, after I do, ill let you know how mine turned out. I have the part of the manual downloaded that shows what to turn and what-not. I didnt read it yet, but maybe the passenger side turns the other way? Also, perhaps if it forced it could have been stripped and no longer turns correctly? I dunno, but ill post how mine turns out!

 

How do the bulbs look compared to each other?? Same position in the housing? Is the light all the way seated in the clip??

You are driving an 2009 so I doubt the screws are stripped.
My guess is that you are brighter than me so I doubt my situation applies to you. I was not using the right tool and was not turning the both screws. One headlight went into alignment perfectly and the other took me days to figure out.

You should have seen the amazement in my eyes when I realized I could use a Phillips screw drivers instead of a small wrench. (Those damn Toyota Engineers are brilliant) Then when I adjusted both screws together to move the headlight. It took me a while to get a clue.

 

Well it might be stripped out. That headlight i bought from someone else i think its off an 07. I might just have to throw my old one back in just so i can aim it.

 

Well got it as close as possible. For some reason the passenger side is different. The top screw moves it up and down and on the Driver its the bottom one. So this whole time i was turning the bottom one and nothing. So its close now. Not perfectly level but its close.

 

That sounds familiar. I remember just getting one headlight set and just turning both screws to each extreme on the headlight just trying to get it to move somewhere.

I was so frustrated, they are just headlights, it should have been simple.

I think I ran into the same situation on an after-market set that I had. It would not adjust down vertically no matter how much I turned it. It would go up when turned the other direction, but seemed to stop at the same spot moving down.

I started jacking around with it and ended up turning both adjustment screws up and down, and left to right a few turns, then went back and adjusted downward. It finally went down past the sticking point and I was able to adjust it correctly.
