I'm picking up a oil fill plug like this but when I go to drill the hole, does it have to be as large as the bung hole? And would I be able to drill it with regular drill bits? I plan to change the diff oil afterwards too..thanks

Pull your 3rd member, drill it just smaller than the outside of the weld in ring. Pulling the 3rd will help keep metal from getting in your gears.

ABSOLUTELY pull your third out before you do this. I would not use a regular drill bit for this unless the OD of the bung is under 3/4". Use a hole saw.

The bung should be recessed into your housing, but more important than that is proper clearance for your gears inside. So whoever is welding will make that decision.

Also, make sure you have the new bung at the same level or higher than the factory filler hole. If it's lower, you won't be able to fill it with enough gear oil.
