Just bought new Moog ball joints.. I know some of you have installed some of these on your trucks.
My question is, is the red little liquid it comes with thread locker? does any one know what the torque specs on the lbj bolts are?

He's been through a lot of ball joints. He probably feels they are the best.

What kit was that? All of the 96-04 Tacoma 3.5" LT kits I've seen have a LBJ lower arm. The Camburg or Solo race kits are all uniball but it's in another price bracket.

I asked TC if they were ever going to do a uniball lower and they said no.

for what its worth I just replaced some Moog LBJ's after a couple years. No idea what milage but I replace them often for piece of mind. These had blown the grease boots last year so that was the biggest reason. They were as tight and gritty as when I put them on there.

I got a good deal on OEM online and installed them the other day. The smoothness of the OEM joint is actually perceivable in the steering around town. They did not come with the new boot guards that I had hoped though so you have to order those separately apparently.

The smoothness of the OEM joint probably means there is a liner in there that could wear faster then the Moog metal on metal. Conditions and use would probably dictate wear more then anything.

I just wish our LBJ was right side up like the 2nd gens. Nothing like hanging the whole truck from a ball joint.

    Esb ftw

I swapped on moogs before the last trip. Double sheared the steering with 1/4". Haven't had a problem, nor were the previous bj's particularly clapped when I removed them. These are the last set, will be converting to uniball next. My truck is way heavier too. Moog is less than half the price of one oem.

    This..

I had replacement ones on Frank for about..1200 miles and put on OEM ones when I did lt. You could literally feel the difference by hand. The OEM ones where smooth in all directions and the others where stiff and would not move smooth at all and didn't want to move other then in a + pattern really.

I didn't pay must less then OEM. And the owns seem worth it to me.

Yep, it cracked straight in half. For some reason that passenger side one always came lose. I keep an eye on it, I had the spare at my house waiting to be swapped this weekend or next. Luckily it happened pulling out of a parking spot

Ive heard good things about Moogs.
I'll most likely be upgrading to the race kit btf offers for tundras. I live at school and work so i think they'll hold up for a bit.
