I've done a couple it's a long list ha. The axles and 3rd member in a junk yard one are trash so all your really getting it a housing. Look into speedway housings. Not to pricy and you won't regret it. Everyone I know that did a junkyard housing ended up switching

why did they switch? seems like every runs the junk yard ones then just truss them and they work fine.

Given it was in racing they bent. Junk yard ones are super thin wall tubing. The speedway's are .250 wall. If you aren't racing run it and truss it and put a strange 3rd member in it.

i have a 05 tacoma with camburgs LT kit with spindles, and deavers with 5100's, and ive been experiencing a clunking noise i can hear in the cab like its resonating through the frame sometimes im convinced its coming from the front right, then sometimes I think i hear it under the bed, has anyone had a similar sound? Ive checked UCA's and LCM's and uniballs are not loosening up. can anyone shoot me some suggestions pleasseee its driving me crazy.

It depends on how heavy your truck is too. Mine has a 9 inch. I decided to spend the extra coin and do it right. *Do up your 3rd Member if you can. I would Highly recommend the Currie 9+ NODULAR 3rd Member, Motive Gears and a Locker.
The guys on our race team have ran that combination for years and we have had good luck. ( Gear Ratio depends on your truck ). But of course it comes down to how much cash you want to spend :(

have you checked the hub? get the wheel off the ground and push/pull the top and bottom of wheel. if there is play its a bad hub. your going to have to put some back into it. while its up push/pull the right and left of the wheel to check if the tie rods are bad.

did you by any chance install it yourself?

My truck did that when I installed my deavers and it turned out to be the driveshaft rubbing where the carrier bearing was. It might not be in your case but it took me months of looking and searching to find it out. just a thought:)
